Well Hiya!
I can't believe it's already October 29th! That means that snow is almost here and that is something I am definitely not looking forward to. You would think that because I've lived in Colorado my whole life I would be use to it but as I've gotten older, I get more and more unused to it. I like the idea of snow but don't like the cold or the wetness or all the traffic. Yuck!
Anyway, some things that have been on my mind are
1. Photography. I'm really enjoying taking photos and experimenting and learning about it but I'm not sure if I want to make it a full on business. I'm not really the "business" type. I've really enjoyed making it a hobby but now that I'm getting clients, I feel like I need to be more professional with everything now. I feel like I should make a contract that they need to sign and have a website and get a price sheet. I really have no problem doing any of those things, I actually enjoy them, but what's killing me is what I should charge for a shoot. I'm still a beginner and haven't had much experience and I feel that when I think that I'm good enough I can charge a higher price. Right now I want to charge less and kind of give myself a little room to......mess up, in a sense. I know I'm not the best photographer yet so I try to keep the price low. My husband thinks I should charge higher and be more confident(which I do need to grow in) but it's not something I'm comfortable with yet.
2. Finances. David and I are doing the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class and it has been so good for us! We are generally pretty good with our money but once we pay off all of our bills and put a chunk of our money into savings we kind of go wild and spend the rest of the money we have on anything we want. I mean, we're young and don't have any kids so why not right? Wrong. Dave Ramsey is a firm believer in the Envelope System which consists of having your budget set up for that month even before the month starts so that every dollar has a name so you can't spend on random stuff whenever you want. It's really good! It's bringing us together and teaching us discipline and it gives us vision for our future! We just have to change our mindsets and work hard towards our goals. It's challenging but very exciting!
3. Africa. My brother and sister in law will be moving to Africa for a couple of months this January and my husband and I want to visit them while they're out there. They have an orphanage in Kenya full of orphans and we'd love to help out and love on some kiddos and share Jesus with them. We were planning on going in February but it's going to be better for my brother and sister in law if we go at the end of March/early April so, with that said, we're trying to brainstorm ways to raise money to go out there. We will most likely do a benefit concert where there will be live music, maybe some snacks, and a table where I will sell some items that I make. All of this has been on my mind! There's so much to it that it's already overwhelming.
4. Holidays. YAAAAYYYYYY! I love the holiday season but it is pretty expensive. This Friday is Halloween(today is Tuesday btw), which I'm not that excited for(because I didn't grow up celebrating Halloween) BUT next month is Thanksgiving and I'm definitely looking forward to that! The holidays are what help me get through all the cold weather. It gives me something to look forward to and kind of helps winter go by faster because it seems like the holidays come and go at the speed of light! If it weren't for the holidays, I would be miserable in the winter!
5. Art. When isn't art on my mind? I don't really get to do much because I'm so busy/when I have nights open all I want to do is cuddle and watch movies. I haven't been able to work in my art journal or do some serious painting in awhile but I have been bringing some watercolors and a pad with me to work to play with(which has been fantastic)! Even though watercolors are simple they do somehow stretch me to be more creative and to really take time to paint. Also I absolutely LOVE the way they look and what they can do! I even get inspired to paint just writing this! Maybe I'll break them open later.
Welp, those are some of the thoughts that I have been having lately! What are some things on your mind lately?
